Frequently Asked Questions

How does the Vinmesa unit work?

Vinmesa uses a removable, freezable, stackable chill block that sits inside the unit and surrounds the bottle with stored thermal energy. The chill block is frozen or refrigerated in advance, placed into the Vinmesa, and the bottle is inserted directly into the unit. It maintains the bottle’s serving temperature without ice, water, electricity, cords, or batteries. Because there is no ice involved, there is also no condensation or water to manage, and the bottle and label remain fully visible.
Is it battery-operated, rechargeable, or powered another way?

Neither. Vinmesa is completely passive and requires no battery, charging, electricity, or power connection. The removable Chill Block is simply stored in a freezer between uses.
How long does a full charge last under normal operating conditions?

There is technically no “charge.” Once the chill block is fully frozen or chilled, Vinmesa is designed to maintain a properly chilled bottle for more than three hours under normal indoor serving conditions.
Is the temperature adjustable?

No. Vinmesa does not electronically regulate or actively cool to a selected temperature. It is designed to maintain the temperature of a bottle that has already been brought to the desired serving temperature, rather than take a room-temperature bottle and rapidly chill it to a specific set point.
Can it be used for both white and red wines, or is it primarily intended for chilled wines?

It is primarily designed for beverages that benefit from being served below ambient temperature, including white wine, rosé, Champagne and sparkling wine, and spirits. It can also be used for red wines. For reds, the Chill Block can be refrigerated rather than frozen, allowing Vinmesa to help maintain the wine at the desired cellar or serving temperature without over-chilling it. Because Vinmesa is designed to maintain temperature rather than cool to a specific set point, the bottle should first be brought to the operator’s preferred serving temperature.
What happens after the 3-hour chill period? Does performance decline gradually, or does it stop altogether?

Performance declines gradually; there is no electronic system that switches off at the three-hour mark. We are confident in Vinmesa’s ability to maintain serving temperature for 3+ hours under normal conditions, though performance will naturally vary based on the environment. Outdoor temperatures, direct sunlight, ambient room temperature, starting bottle temperature, and bottle size can all affect performance. In warmer or outdoor environments, the bottle may begin warming sooner, while in favorable indoor conditions, we have seen Vinmesa maintain temperature with very little variation for up to five hours.
